GCAM Day: Celebrating 10 Years of Manufacturing in Gaston County

Today, as Gaston County Manufacturing Week celebrates GCAM Day, we are especially proud to recognize a significant milestone: the 10th anniversary of the Gaston County Association of Manufacturers (GCAM) and a decade of bringing our manufacturing community together.

Gaston County’s manufacturing story runs deep. From our roots as the “Textile Capital of the World” to today's diverse and highly advanced manufacturing economy, generations of manufacturers have helped shape our communities, create opportunities, and build the foundation of the Gaston County we know today.

While the industries and technologies have evolved, one thing has remained the same: Gaston County is a community built by manufacturers.

Today, companies such as Dixon Quick Coupling, GNT, ICONS, Röchling, Knoll and many others continue that tradition of innovation, investment, and growth. They represent the many faces of modern manufacturing and play a vital role in our local economy.

For the past 10 years, GCAM has provided a forum for manufacturers to connect, share ideas, discuss challenges, and identify opportunities that strengthen not only their businesses, but our community as a whole. Members meet regularly to discuss issues that directly impact Gaston County manufacturers, including workforce development, transportation, education, economic development, and legislative priorities.

A key focus of GCAM has been developing the next generation of manufacturing talent. Member companies work alongside Gaston County Schools, Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, Gaston College and apprenticeship programs to introduce students to rewarding careers in modern manufacturing and create pathways from the classroom to the workforce.

What makes GCAM unique is its spirit of collaboration. Manufacturers willingly share knowledge, address common challenges, support workforce initiatives, and work together to create greater opportunities for their employees and for the citizens of Gaston County.

For 10 years, GCAM has demonstrated what can happen when local manufacturers unite around a common purpose: strengthening their companies, strengthening the workforce, and strengthening Gaston County.

As we celebrate GCAM's 10th anniversary, we also celebrate the people behind Gaston County manufacturing: the generations who built it, the workforce carrying it forward, and the companies investing in its future.

Happy GCAM Day, and thank you to the manufacturers who continue to Make It in Gaston!
