Industrial concrete product manufacturer, Fit Precast, announced today a $102 million investment to build a manufacturing facility in south Gaston County. The facility will be annexed into the City of Gastonia and is the cornerstone of Fit Precast’s plan to create 125 new jobs at an average annual wage of $104,000, which is nearly double the county’s current average annual wage.

Code named Project Willow, this concrete product manufacturing plant will be a prototype plant, focusing on the national infrastructure needs of today and for the future, which are critical components to stormwater management, transportation, and utility construction.  Products include reinforced concrete pipe (RCP), precast storm structures, underground detention storm structures, pre-cast box culverts, and pre-cast bottomless culverts.  The facility will also serve as their headquarters and is projected to be 154,000 square feet on a 72-acre site off south US-321. Fit Precast will focus on the accuracy of their product to maximize production that will create a new standard for precast products.

“The demand for resilient, American-made infrastructure has never been greater, and North Carolina is the ideal place to meet that challenge,” said Matt Goreski, President of FIT Precast. “This flagship headquarters and production facility is the most advanced precast concrete manufacturing site in the country; investing in both leading-edge technology and the people of North Carolina with high paying, meaningful careers. The Gaston County EDC and the State of North Carolina consistently went above and beyond to secure this project, we would like to thank them for making this our new home.”

“The companies that are interested in the economy of tomorrow are right at home here in Gaston County,” Board of Commissioner Chairman Chad Brown said. “Our advanced manufacturing industry continues to thrive, in large part because of the dedicated partnerships between our economic development team, our higher education and job training partners and the residents of Gaston County that will fill these new jobs and make this venture an overwhelming success.”

“This project is another example of Gastonia’s continued momentum in attracting advanced manufacturing and high-quality jobs,” said Mayor Richard Franks. “We’re proud to see companies continue to recognize Gastonia as a place where business and opportunity thrive.”

“Fit Precast’s commitment to Gaston County is a powerful vote of confidence in the hard-working people of the region,” said N.C. Representative Donnie Loftis. “These 125 new jobs will bring stability and opportunity to families across our district. I’m proud to support efforts that keep Gaston County moving forward.”

The Gaston County Economic Development Commission would like to welcome Fit Precast to Gaston County and thank our partners in this successful location – the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), the North Carolina Community College System, Gaston College, the Gaston County Board of Commissioners, the City of Gastonia, North Carolina Railroad Company, Norfolk Southern, NCDOT, Duke Energy, Enbridge, and EverGreen Capital Strategies.
