IDI Logistics buys 25-acre site for large industrial project in Gastonia
The developer behind a notable industrial project in Gaston County has officially closed on its land purchase there.
Last month, an entity affiliated with IDI Logistics acquired an approximately 25-acre site off Friday Park Road for $3.1 million, according to county real estate records. IDI secured rezoning approval for the site last year to allow for the development of an industrial building of just over 300,000 square feet. The site is off U.S. Route 321 between Gastonia and Dallas.
Gastonia's city council passed IDI's rezoning and annexation requests in August, approvals that paved the way for the large industrial project. A specific construction timeline for the project is unclear at this time. The industrial building is expected to include 249 car parking spaces and 56 trailer parking spaces.
“The Gaston County submarket is the preferred location for transporting to and from Atlanta and Greenville," said Nick Faber, market officer at IDI Logistics. "Our Friday Park Road site has excellent access to I-85 and is less than 15 minutes away from I-485 and Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The site will also provide a convenient commute to the best labor pool in the Charlotte MSA."
According to its website, IDI Logistics' core office is in Atlanta, and it has six other offices nationally. The developer announced its first industrial project in the Charlotte region in June 2022. That project called for the development of a speculative industrial building in Huntersville of over 150,000 square feet.
