J&L Machine and Fabrication, a fabrication and machining provider, will create 33 new jobs in Gaston County, Governor Cooper announced today. The company will invest more than $2.1 million to expand its production capacity in the Town of Stanley.

The company will invest more than $5.6 million over the next three years to establish its first North American plastic extrusion production site in Belmont at the former Marlatex Corporation facility on Brook Street.

Gaston College received $60 million in the state budget to expand its health science program, which will allow it to train more healthcare workers, college officials say. The $60 million marks North Carolina’s largest community college budget allocation this year, and the largest in Gaston College’s history, say lawmakers.
