Häns Kissle, a fresh and prepared foods processor owned by Japanese industrial holding company Mitsui & Co., established a manufacturing facility designed and built by Gray in Gastonia, N.C., as a part of the customer’s five-year plan. “The U.S. is the center of growth on the planet,” says Yohei Sugimoto, senior vice president for Häns Kissle. “A strong economy and increasing population will keep driving that growth. We wanted to capture that.”

Adaptive Reuse Effort Will Create 139 Units in Mill Built by Founder of Bessemer City, NC

The Charlotte Region continues to see strong employment numbers across the board. As of December 2022, the Charlotte Region saw year-over-year employment growth of 4.6%. That growth outpaces North Carolina (4.0%), South Carolina (3.3%), and the United States (2.9%).

North Carolina has been named Business Facilities’ 2022 State of the Year, marking the second time the state is recognized for this top honor from the publication. The Tar Heel State was recognized previously by Business Facilities as its 2020 State of the Year. 

Newell Brands has signed a lease at Gateway 85 Business Park in Gaston County. Newell will occupy 1.5 million square feet for warehouse and product distribution for several of the company’s businesses including brands like Rubbermaid®, Mr. Coffee®, Oster®, Calphalon® and Sunbeam®. The company, along with NorthPoint Development, is making a total investment of $135 million.
