The doors are officially open at the largest office development in Gaston County history. On Thursday, phones were ringing in the customer call center and the smell of shrimp from a low-country boil in the commissary wafted through the air during the ribbon cutting of the new Sonic Automotive and EchoPark Automotive Guest Experience Center in Lowell. 

Gaston County has emerged as a location of choice for advanced manufacturing facilities. Foreign direct investment (FDI) has accounted for twenty of the forty-one most recent economic development projects of the Gaston County EDC. This includes existing industry expansions and new locations. Over $370 million has been invested along with the creation of over 1,000 new jobs which have consistently paid more than the County’s average annual wage for that year.

CaroMont Health today announced plans to invest more than $300 million in capital projects and facility improvements in Gaston County over the next five years. Projects include the addition of a critical care tower on the main campus of CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, the construction and renovation of several medical office buildings, and the construction of a second hospital in Belmont.
