The Gaston County Economic Development Commission is pleased to announce that Pacific Coast Feather Company has purchased and is renovating the plant located at 2500 Lowell Road. The privately held company plans to produce mattress pads and other products at this facility. Based in Seattle, Pacific Coast Feather Company has been creating premium down and feather bedding for more than 125 years. The company is the leading supplier of premium down and synthetic filled basic bedding to major retailers and hoteliers in the North America. Pacific Coast Feather Company offers a full assortment of innovative high quality basic bedding products such as down and down-alternative pillows, mattress pads, down comforters, feather beds and decorative pillow inserts.

?We appreciate the extraordinary support provided by Gaston County, the Town of Ranlo and the State of North Carolina, throughout this relocation process,? said Joe Crawford, President of Pacific Coast Feather Company. ?The plant in Ranlo has afforded our company the ability to maintain a high level of service to our customers through this most difficult time. After a tornado destroyed our previous facility we were under a severe time constraint to find a new location. We found exactly what we needed in Ranlo and began ramping up production in early March. We will be at full production by mid-May, enabling our company to continue to serve our customers with minimal disruption. The support that we have been given is proof that Pacific Coast Feather Company made a great choice in coming to Gaston County. The Ranlo operation will support our growing customer demand for our products and services,? he added.

Mr. Tracy Philbeck, Chairman of the Gaston County Board of Commissioners said; ?We are excited to welcome Pacific Coast Feather Company to Gaston County. I want to thank my fellow Commissioners for supporting the local application for the NC Department of Commerce?s newly revised building reuse grant program. I along with the rest of the Commissioners, are more than happy to provide this support in the development of job opportunities for our friends and neighbors.? He further stated, ?I have read about the reason which began this relocation process. I continue to be impressed with the integrity of Pacific Coast Feather Company. They are a world class firm which will fit very nicely into Gaston County?s growing corporate community.? Chairman Philbeck added, ?Gaston County constantly strives to provide an outstanding business environment for all of our corporate citizens. Through the Gaston County EDC?s Business Retention program, we will continue to provide service ?after the sale? for Pacific Coast Feather Company.?

?We are very happy that Pacific Coast Feather Company is coming into our town. On behalf of my fellow Town Commissioners, I want to officially welcome Pacific Coast Feather Company to Ranlo.? said Mr. Steve Alexander, Mayor of Ranlo. Adding, ?The employment opportunities provided by the relocation of Pacific Coast Feather Company are the most important benefit to our town. We appreciate your choosing Ranlo for your production operation. We want to make certain that your experience with Ranlo is a positive one.?

Mr. Kim Price, Chairman of the Gaston County Economic Development Commission, stated, ?As Chairman of the Gaston County Economic Development Commission I want to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Pacific Coast Feather Company for locating their newest facility in Gaston County.? He added, ?The Gaston County Commissioners and the Town Commissioners of Ranlo are to be commended for the support which they have provided for Pacific Coast Feather Company. I also want to thank the staff of the EDC and Ms. Pat Laws, the County?s Grants Administrator, for their work on the NCDOC?s building reuse grant application. We are especially grateful for the job opportunities which are being provided by Pacific Coast Feather Company and look forward to the company?s growth.?
